In the early twentieth century, René Quinton demonstrated scientifically preventive and therapeutic seawater health benefits.

In his masterpiece, Sea water, organic media, published in 1904, he described the Laws of thermal, osmotic and marine constancy, and concluded that our internal environment is literally seawater

The elements in seawater are the same that we find in our internal environment, the only difference is the amount. The sea is four times saltier than us, contains about 36 grams of mineral salts per liter, while the water we have inside contains 9 grams of salts. When we lower the sea water with fresh water making it isotonic (the same concentration of salts that our internal water) we are making plasma. That is, isotonic sea water is identical to our blood plasma.

As the book Quinton's Plasma. Seawater, our internal environment (author: André Mahé) explains, René Quinton made his first experiments in animals. It started with a dog that he bled to limit and automatically injected isotonic seawater achieving excellent results. He showed that serum is the best seawater, as it is the only one that allows white blood cells to survive in it.

"The disease I carry with me is the love of human beings", Quinton said. Once shown that seawater is like our plasma, he was suggested to write more books and theories, to which he replied: "No time to waste. We have to save lives".

Many people thought he was crazy, but he took his desire to practice by opening marine dispensaries in different countries, where he applied marine plasma or isotonic seawater free of charge to thousands of children suffering from typhus, cholera, tuberculosis and malnutrition, among other diseases, achieving a great success: recovering the health of children through the seawater.

During the first World War, in which he participated, he conducted blood transfusions of seawater to the wounded. Quinton became famous worldwide in the field of biology, medicine and politics. He left humanity a priceless legacy. After his death in 1925, dispensaries were closed and his work silenced.

Quinton was a contemporary of Pasteur, who said that we would better develop vaccines, antibiotics and other drugs to kill countless virus and harmful bacteria for humans. Meanwhile, Quinton's position was that it is important that the internal environment is in balance in order to prevent any other organism to alter it, and here comes the seawater, as the physiologist said that 'gives our cells the strength they need to fight and defend against all'. Before dying, Pasteur recognized that Quinton was right, but the modern medicine developped following the line of Pasteur and it ignored Quinton and all his works, in which he proved through practice that seawater is essential to restore and maintain health.

René Quinton was a great French physiologist and humanist who revolutionized the world of biology with his invaluable experiments. He was a highly cultured autodidact who became universally recognized as one of the wisest and most influential people of the time.

In his masterpiece, 'Sea water, organic medium', published in 1904, Quinton scientifically demonstrated that seawater is identical to the blood plasma. He made blood transfusions with marine plasma to dogs achieving a great success.

He verified thus that white blood cells survive well in seawater. To date it has not been achieved in any other medium. Marine plasma is the best natural serum.

Quinton's next step was to apply his method to the benefit of humanity. He opened marine dispensaries throughout France and abroad, where he injected seawater, free of charges, to thousands of children suffering from typhus, cholera, tuberculosis, severe malnutrition, etc. saving many lives.

After his death in 1925, only because he did not have a medical or scientific degree, his work was not accepted or recognized by modern medicine.

He had no academic degree in medicine or pysiology, however, this french self-taught promulgated the Law of the original constancy of the world and discovered that seawater and (blood) plasma have the same composition. He subsequently applied his discovery to a therapy based on intravenous injection of ocean plasma to fight diseases like cholera or malaria.
